M57 Ring Nebula 18 October 2007 First light with the AO-8. The quarter moon was out and the seeing was only fair but the AO-8 gave me an RMS average of 0.35 pixels on a 9th magnitude star. Not bad at all. It was also cold, about 6°C, and I was running Optec and AO-8 tests. After finishing the test I ended the evening with this image. It is 15 3 minute exposures, ST-2000XCM, f/6.3 focal reducer, guided with an AO-8. Imaging, dark subtract, clip stack, LRGB creation in Equinox Image. Final composition in Photoshop. IC 1296 is just barely visible at the top right.
